Half Moon Tassel Earrings DIY is a simple way to create colorful jewelry for warm-weather outfits. With half-moon pendants, embroidery thread, and a few basic jewelry-making tools, you can make a pair in colors that suit your wardrobe. The tassel length and color combination are easy to adjust, making this project suitable for vacation accessories or everyday summer wear.

Supplies for Half Moon Tassel Earrings DIY
- 2 half-moon pendants
- Metal piercing tool
- Needle-nose pliers
- Embroidery thread in 4 colors
- Jump rings
- Ball stud earring posts
- A small piece of cardboard
- Fabric scissors
Before starting, arrange the supplies on a clear work surface. Take care when using the metal piercing tool, and keep your fingers away from the area being pierced. Check that the jump rings fit through the pendant holes before making the tassels.

Prepare the Half-Moon Pendants
Each pendant needs four holes in total. Use the metal piercing tool to add two more holes along the long side of each half-moon piece, in addition to the two existing holes. Mark the intended positions with a marker first to help keep the spacing consistent between the pair.

Make the Embroidery Thread Tassels
Cut a 1 1/2-inch strip of cardboard to wrap the thread around. Starting at the bottom edge, wind one color of embroidery thread around the cardboard 15 times. Cut the thread at the bottom, leaving the ends a little longer than the cardboard.
Cut a separate 4-inch length of thread and slide it between the cardboard and the wrapped strands. Tie it firmly near the top of the loops. This tie holds the strands together and creates a loop for attaching a jump ring later.

Fold the long ends of the 4-inch tie down alongside the tassel strands, then carefully slide the thread bundle off the cardboard. Cut another 4-inch length of thread and tie it around the tassel about one-third of the way down from the top. Fold those ends down with the other strands to create the wrapped section of the tassel.

Use fabric scissors to cut through the loops at the bottom of the tassel. Trim the ends into an even edge. Repeat with the remaining thread colors until you have two tassels in each color. For a neat finish, line up the tassels before trimming so their lengths are similar.

Assemble the Earrings
Use needle-nose pliers to open the loop on an earring post. Attach the loop to the top of one half-moon pendant, then close it securely with the pliers. Repeat with the second pendant. Open jump rings carefully rather than pulling their ends apart, which can make them harder to close neatly.

Use a jump ring to connect the tie at the top of each tassel to a hole along the bottom of a half-moon pendant. Add the tassels through the remaining holes, distributing the colors across both earrings. Check that every jump ring is closed before wearing the finished pair.

Repeat the attachment steps until all the tassels are in place. Adjust their positions as needed so the earrings hang evenly.

Customize Your Half Moon Tassel Earrings
Choose thread shades that complement your clothes, or combine contrasting colors for a brighter look. To make longer tassels, use a taller piece of cardboard; keep the number of thread wraps consistent if you want a similar thickness. These earrings can add a playful detail to a summer dress or a vacation outfit. — Laura
