Kacey Musgraves’ Dining Room Tour

The Kacey Musgraves dining room brings together warm materials, personal artwork, and thoughtful details to create a welcoming place to gather. Designed as part of a larger home renovation, the space was intended to feel comfortable for Kacey and Ruston when they were home between tours.

Alongside the renovation, Kacey was preparing for her wedding and writing a record. Even with a busy schedule, she stayed involved in the small design choices, helping shape a room that feels personal rather than overly styled.

Kacey Musgraves Dining Room: The Design Details

The room’s vintage rugs add color and texture underfoot. Layering rugs can help define a dining area and make a large room feel more inviting. When choosing vintage pieces, it is useful to see them in the space itself: colors and proportions can look different at home than they do in a shop.

An exposed stairway, created by removing a former wall, gives the room an open architectural feature. Plants in a mix of baskets and planters soften the edges and bring greenery into the space. For a similar effect, vary the height and shape of planters while leaving enough room for clear access along the stairs.

A Dining Area That Connects to Everyday Living

Kacey moved her record console into the dining area after the earlier home tour. Its position makes the room work for more than meals: records can play while someone cooks or gathers around the table.

The walls combine gold frames with several art pieces: the Hollyweed Print by TeamWoodnote, a palm print by Arielle Vey, and a Pom Pom Print by Juniper Print Shop. The portraits are by Kelly Sutton and Reid Long. A gold-and-black planter adds another accent, while the light fixture and ceiling medallion complete the overhead details.

The main dining room light is a larger companion to the hallway fixture. Two bar stools sit at the kitchen island, which separates the cooking area from the dining space. When planning a similar layout, consider how people will move between the table and kitchen, and choose seating that does not obstruct the walkway.

The dining table was the first piece Kacey chose, and the rest of the room was designed around it. Live-edge benches bring in natural wood grain and offer an alternative to a full set of matching chairs. Choosing a standout table first can make it easier to select complementary seating, lighting, and finishes.

Finishing Touches for a Warm Dining Room

Tasselled curtains add a decorative detail around the windows. Curtain rods help complete the look, so it is worth considering both the fabric and the hardware when planning window treatments. Measure the window area before buying to ensure the curtains can hang comfortably around it.

Wishbone chairs were selected for each end of the table. Their distinctive shape adds visual interest while balancing the benches and table. Repeating a material or color across different pieces can help a mix of furniture feel cohesive.

Why Slow Decorating Works

As the photo session wrapped up, Kacey said the room finally felt like home. That feeling often comes from making considered choices over time rather than trying to furnish every corner at once.

A comfortable, personal home does not need to be crowded with accessories. A gradual approach makes it easier to understand how a room is used, identify what is missing, and avoid purchases that do not suit the space. Collect meaningful pieces over time, refresh the room seasonally if needed, and pass along items that no longer work for you. Most importantly, give the process time.

This dining room combines practical choices with personal touches, from the record console and benches to the layered rugs and artwork. The result is a cozy Kacey Musgraves dining room designed for everyday use as well as gathering. — Elsie
