At Home with Lindsey Bonnice in Pennsylvania

Pillows and decor

This Pennsylvania home tour visits Lindsey Bonnice’s bright, pastel-filled home in a small town in Northeastern Pennsylvania. Built on land beside a lake where Lindsey grew up, the house blends cheerful colors and collected finds with spaces designed for everyday family life. The home is also shared with a lively group of pets: two dogs, two cats, a rabbit, a tortoise, two pigs and two goats.

“We have lived in our home for just over two years. We built it on the lake and land where I grew up, in a small town in Northeastern Pennsylvania. We live next door to my parents, which is wonderful for the kids. We spend a lot of time playing in the woods and near the water with all of our animals.

Pennsylvania home tour: collected, colorful decor

Lindsey’s approach combines vintage pieces with playful, eclectic accents. Many items came from flea markets and thrift stores, while other finds were chosen to add color and personality. Favorite pillows and handmade pieces bring another layer of texture to the rooms.

For a similar collected look, start with pieces you genuinely enjoy rather than trying to match everything. Mixing vintage finds with newer decor can make a room feel personal. When shopping secondhand, check an item’s condition and measurements before bringing it home, especially for furniture or pieces that need to fit a specific space.

“Many of our things are vintage finds from flea markets and thrift stores. I also look for fun, eclectic pieces at home-goods stores. Some of my favorite pillows are handmade, and I enjoy searching for other crafted goods as well.”

A living room and kitchen made for family time

The living room and kitchen are Lindsey’s favorite areas because the family spends much of its time there. Her husband enjoys cooking, while Lindsey likes to bake, so the kitchen is often in use. With one parent preparing food and the other playing with the children nearby, the open, shared routine helps keep family activities connected.

When planning a family-friendly home, consider how people move between the kitchen and living area. Keep frequently used items easy to reach, and leave clear space for everyday activities. A comfortable room does not need to stay perfectly tidy to be useful; practical storage and durable furnishings can help it work for real life.

“Although we have lived here for only two years, it sometimes feels as if we have always been here. We designed and built the house and had a hand in each detail, so it felt like home right away. I want it to be attractive, functional and comfortable for the kids. We spend a lot of time at home, so it is our haven. It gets messy every day, but it is already full of laughter, love and memories, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

What makes this Pennsylvania home feel welcoming

The house reflects the family’s routines as much as its style. Its location connects the children with nearby family and the outdoors, while the shared kitchen and living room provide space to spend time together. Personal touches, including secondhand and handmade decor, make the rooms feel collected rather than overly formal.

This Pennsylvania home tour shows how a home can be both colorful and practical. Choosing meaningful decor, making shared spaces comfortable and accepting the everyday mess can help create a home that supports family life as well as personal style.

Thank you to Lindsey Bonnice for sharing her home.
