Bring a touch of spring indoors with a crepe paper flower garland. This handmade decoration combines colorful paper blooms and leaves on a flexible wire base, making it suitable for a mantel, table centerpiece, or wreath. You can vary the flower shapes and colors to create a look that fits your space, and small differences between petals will blend naturally into the finished garland.
Crepe paper flowers can be simple or detailed, so begin with basic petals if you are new to the craft. Gently stretching the paper gives petals a ruffled appearance. Work slowly and handle the paper lightly to avoid tearing it.

Materials for a Crepe Paper Flower Garland
Gather these supplies before you start. The black crepe paper is used to make the fringed flower centers.
- Crepe paper rolls in pink, yellow, peach, green, and black
- Floral wire
- Scissors
- Hot glue
- Wire cutters
Keep the wire cutters and hot glue within reach, and use care when handling sharp tools or hot glue. Preparing the paper colors in advance can make the assembly process easier.

How to Make the Flowers and Garland
1. Create the flower centers
Wrap a small, bean-sized piece of paper in a square of pink crepe paper to form the center of a flower. Make one center for each bloom you plan to add.

2. Add a fringed center
Cut a strip of black crepe paper with fringe along one edge. Wrap it around the pink center and secure it with hot glue. The fringe creates a textured detail in the middle of the flower.

3. Shape and attach the petals
Cut three to four petals from light pink crepe paper. Gently pull each petal at the sides to stretch the paper and create a ruffled shape. Glue the petals around the center, overlapping them as you work. Use a small amount of glue so the petals stay in place without becoming stiff.

4. Make more flowers and leaves
Repeat the process with different flower colors, petal shapes, and sizes until you have about 24 flowers. A mix of sizes helps give the finished garland a varied appearance.
To make a pair of leaves, fold green crepe paper in half and cut out a leaf shape, leaving about 1 inch of the bottom fold uncut. Gently pull each leaf to ruffle it, then twist the connected, uncut section and fold it in half to form a double leaf.

5. Assemble the garland base
Twist the green-covered wire together to form the garland base. Attach green floral wire to each flower with hot glue, then twist and glue the flowers and leaves onto the base wire. Arrange the flowers as you go so you can adjust their spacing before filling out the design.

6. Fill gaps with leaves
After attaching all the flowers, add leaves wherever the wire shows through or empty spaces remain. Clusters of two to three flowers, with leaves between the groups, create a balanced arrangement. Step back occasionally to check the spacing along the full length.

Display Ideas
Hang the finished garland on a mantel using small clear Command hooks. It can also run down the center of a table as a spring runner. To make a wreath, bend the garland into a circle and twist the ends together. Choose a display spot where the flexible wire can rest securely and the paper flowers will not be crushed.
